Saturday in PDX

Yesterday was wonderful! I took the praxis tests for music and general teaching strategies. I think they went well. I felt that my answers were substantial. The music was kind of a compilation of every music class I took at St. Olaf.
After the first test I hung out with my cousin Laura who lives in Tigard, right next to Portland. I scored a free mandolin slicer from her. She works at Sur le Table a high end kitchen store and she already got a free mandolin from them. She had been meaning to take this one back so other employees can take it if they want. It's a good thing I told her that I had almost bought one at our market.
We went downtown to get Voodoo donuts (they make vegan donuts). It was so hard to find a parking spot in old town. Then we remembered that it was Saturday and the Portland Saturday Market was happenings. We realized this when we pulled into a parking spot that happened to be right by the entrance to the market. So we ate our donuts and walked around. It was so much fun! I just love seeing a variety of people. Portland is so awesome.
My second test was in the afternoon. All the testing took place at Portland Community College which is 5 min. from my cousin's house. After the test I went and hung out with Emily! It's good to see Olaf friends. We hung out in her back yard, played with her dogs, went to dinner at P.F. Chang's, and then watched Princess Diaries 2. It's really a horrible movie, but I love it and we watched it because Anna Netrebko has a cameo in it. She actually didn't sound that fabulous. Then I fought sleep and drove home at 11. It was very disorienting. Everything seemed kind of fuzzy. But I stayed awake by trying to sing along to the new Jason Mraz cd. I thought I hated his music, but this cd is good, I'm borrowing it from Laura.
